The vases and pin trays in the Impronta ceramics collection grew out of the creative talent of Ico and Luisa Parisi. Conceived in the 1960s by the designer and his wife as a sophisticated series of home accessories, the pop-art influence is clear. Thanks to painstaking historically accurate lines of inquiry and development conducted in partnership with Roberta Lietti, curator of the Ico Parisi Design Archives, Cassina re-edits a cylindrical vase with an opening in the shape of a mouth, a single-stem vase characterized by a hollow contour in the shape of a hand, and a pin tray that reproduces the cast of an open hand, poised to receive small everyday items. Imbued with striking visual and chromatic impact, these elegant, functional objects are made of hand-decorated enamelled ceramic reminiscent of a period characterized by innovative tactile exploration applied to design.

I MAESTRI

Ico e Luisa Parisi

Domenico Parisi, nicknamed Ico, was born in Palermo on the 23rd of September 1916 to Sicilian parents who were living in the Piedmont region. In 1925 the Parisi family moved to Como where Ico earned his diploma as a building inspector in 1936 and completed an apprenticeship at Studio Terragni. The studio gave him the opportunity to get to know and interact with prominent figures of Como's architecture and art world such as Cattaneo, Lingeri, Radice, Rho, Persico and Sartoris.
