Cab is the world’s first free-standing saddle-hide chair, inspired by the relationship between the skeleton and the skin. The individual pieces of saddle-hide are stitched together and the upholstery is then molded to a steel skeleton and closed with zippers, like a custom-tailored suit.

Cab is the world’s first free-standing saddle leather chair, inspired by the relationship between the skeleton and the skin. Its upholstery is made up of 22 parts in saddle leather. Only after a lengthy shaving procedure to thin the parts to be joined, are the cut parts stitched together. The upholstery is then hand-molded to the steel skeleton and closed with zippers, like a custom-tailored garment. Mario Bellini is an architect and designer internationally renowned. He received the Golden Compass Award eight times and 25 of his works are in the permanent design collection of the New York MoMA, which dedicated to him a personal retrospective in 1987. He was editor of Domus magazine (1985-1991).
