LC16 bureau

An all-purpose solution

Already part of the residential collection, Cassina re-edits the LC16 Bureau desk, designed by Le Corbusier in 1957, in a larger version for contract use that meets the needs of today’s workplaces, while maintaining the utmost respect for the original design.

PRODUCTION YEAR

Working closely with the Fondation Le Corbusier and maintaining the utmost respect for its original design, Cassina re-edits the LC16 Petit Bureau desk, designed in 1957 as an everyday desk for the children’s rooms at the Unités d’Habitation of Nantes-Rezé, in France. Already part of the residential collection, for the Cassina Pro Collection, it is back in a larger version to meet the demands of contemporary workplaces. The structure is in natural oak, paired with a matching top for a monochromatic version or, as in the original design, with the top in glossy red lacquer finish. Along with the LC16 Bureau desk, Cassina introduces an open cabinet with attached shelves, also available in a version equipped with integrated electrification, for greater functionality. As with all of the pieces in the Cassina iMaestri Collection, to ensure its authenticity, the LC16 Bureau desk bears the collection logo, the Le Corbusier signature and the serial number that matches its ID card.

Le Corbusier

I MAESTRI

Charles-Edouard Jeanneret, known as Le Corbusier, was born at La Chaux-de-Fonds, in the Swiss Jura, in 1887; he died in France, at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, on the French Côte d’Azur, in 1965.rly in his career his work met with some resistance owing to its alleged «revolutionary» nature and the radical look it acquired from its «purist» experiments; in time , however, it won the recognition it deserved and it is still widely admired. His message is still being assimilated by an ever increasing number of people in the profession, but his far-out avant-garde attitudes should be interpreted with due consideration for the use of rational systems in his planning method, evidenced by extremely simple modules and formes based on the functional logic.

The design desk was envisioned by Le Corbusier as an all-purpose piece for the children’s rooms at the Unité d'habitation of Nantes-Rezé, a French city in the Pays de la Loire region.

Along with the LC16 Bureau desk, Cassina introduces an open cabinet with attached shelves, also available in a version equipped with integrated electrification. A piece with a focus on functionality, it is the ideal complement to modern, minimalist settings.
