An extremely functional dining chair, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1907 for the Avery Coonley House, one of the finest examples of his prairie style home. Wright uses his signature uprights for this accomplished combination of shape and materials that blends into the context with perfect ease. As with all of the architect’s designs, the relationship with nature plays a fundamental role. The high-backed version of the chair is intended to be, above all else, functional, conferring comfort to the person using it, while its essential symmetry composed of simple and clean-cut lines make it elegant beyond compare.
